The 2011 Headies

Venue: Eko Hotels & Suites Convention Center. Lagos
Date: 22nd October 2011

Some celebrities spotted at The Headies include: 2Face, M.I, Tiwa Savage, Rita Dominic, eLDee, Ice Prince, Dare, WizKid, Sound Sultan, BrymO and so on....

Let's jump right into it!

Miss Dencia, I could have sworn you were going for the bride of frankenstein with this outfit. The tissue paper sorry veil and those earrings look highly inappropriate for an event like this. I'm sure underneath this disaster you call a dress is a lovely figure! next time, embrace it and show it off! Miss Kefee, i'm sadly not buying this attempt to make ankara look modern. It's not quite working here. You look like a rocket that is about to take off and blow the Eko Hotels & Suites Convention Center to pieces and not in a good way! As for my lady, Kween, I love everything but your jumpsuit; BURN IT. Thanks! overall 1/10.

Miss Toni Payne would have won me over if she had her hair up and invested in spanx. Miss Bolanle Okhiria,  the ideal koklette I absolutely despise your look! You need to fire the tailor who made this mess for you or better still, contact me and I will give you my tailor's number. Her dress reminds me of a 16 year old's prom dress. Not grown and sexy enough for me! The pretty Miss on the right, the eyeshadow, dress and shoes are not just working for me! I wouldn't be surprised if you and Miss Bolanle used the same tailor Fire him/ her! 2/10

Miss Toolz!!! I like that she finally got rid of that monstrous red hair, the dress is working for me but I wish she would have used a different purse and chosen a different pair of shoes, pumps maybe? In addition, I think this is the best I have seen Toolz so far, a little more effort and you may hit the fashion jackpot one day!
Miss Funke aka Jenifa, I love you woman but you always dress like you are 60 years old. I would expect Joke Silver to wear a dress like this and not you. I don't believe you are married or have kids, that dress is not working for me, I want to see you in something more flattering and youthful :) Finally, the Miss on the right, your whole outfit is not working for me either! the dress resembles a cheap knock off version of the Pucci dress Beyonce wore to the 2011 Met Gala. No Bueno! overall a 4/10 here...

Seems like Halloween came a little too early for these ladies! The dresses, hairstyles, accessories and shoes are not working for me at all ladies. Number 1 on your Christmas wish list ladies should all be MIRRORS! 0/10 here. EPIC fail.

Young man, your bedazzled shirt is just offensive!! Miss Titi Lo'Kei, don't ever do this again. Real Talk. Don't ever channel Destiny's Child circa 2001, the survivor era. Why? Because all of Destiny's Children are now grown! 2/10

SMH! these fellas probably did not get the memo that this is a red carpet event and not the circus show! Even Stevie Wonder could tell you that your outfits are a mess. 0/10!!! FAIL

There's always something about Dare that doesn't sit well with me! His metrosexual fashion sense is a little over the top for me. Not feeling it at all! Mr Jesse Jagz :| a simple tshirt would have been just fine. The whole duffle sleeveless coat thing is highly inappropriate for the red carpet. Mr Man on the right, next time leave the trainers for the gym, Thanks! 3/10 here...

Over here, we have a lot going on! Dolapo Oni looks fab, The bottom half of this outfit is spot on! I love the purple pumps, it provides wonderful contrast to the dull green romper/ dress but I think there is a little too much velvet going on in this outfit. This look would have been BANGIN' without the olive blazer. Overall, a nice attempt! I will be looking forward to her next red carpet look. The beautiful Miss in the blue mono-strap dress look nice. Miss Sasha, the Nigerian Eve I like how Sasha takes fashion risks even though they don't always work out right, she makes an attempt and thats all that matters! I love her top and the exaggerated shoulders however, I wish she would have paired it with a simple black skirt. Now that would have been awesome! The ladies get a 7/10 mainly for effort :-)

Isn't it funny that these three young ladies are all posing in the same way? I'm usually a big fan of Eku, I like that she does not have her Mac's ruby woo red lipstick on in this picture however thats about all i like about her look. Her dress is ok, I'm not really feeling her shoes either! Same for Miss Sambo, I usually like whatever she puts together but this sheer mess she has going on here is just not working for this event. Toke, I love that she chose to wear lace but this hairstyle makes the overall outfit look very modern- day bridesmaid'ish to me! these girls get a 5/10.

Sigh! Mr Incredible, with a change or an overall absence of the tie, you would have brought your outfit home in my opinion. For me, here, M.I is channelling his inner sixth form A level uniform. Mr 360 Nobs, you are starting to bore me with your fashion choices, you look the same at EVERY event; ill- fitting trousers, shirt & blazer. I'd like to see you do something different, surprise me! As for JJC, who really does look like a Jolly Just Come in this picture, give your sister back her beads and don't ever play like that again dawg. You too grown to be playing dress up! 4/10 here. Not impressed.

The play with colors here is really interesting! I like that Nigerian men are becoming more adventurous with fashion. 2Face's grandpa Heritage is something different. Don't think I've seen any man be that bold in a long time! Dear Ohimai Atafo, you are so swish!!! 7/10 here.

Well look what have we here, Ice Prince & BrymO in traditional Kaftans, They're sticking what they know best and that could be a positive! I'd rather they wear this than take fashion faux pas risks. With that being said, I must confess I like BrymO's outfit more than Ice Prince's though. Collectively they get a 6.5/10

I love the color blocking trend going on here, however I would have appreciated if these ladies took a little more time and effort into their outfits for this event, accessorized with some chunky jewelry or cuffs! I mean...it was a red carpet event and not a store opening at the palms. The minimalist look is not really working for me here. Sorry ladies, a stingy 5/10

I don't quite know who this pretty Miss is however, I love her dress. She looks absolutely stunning. I love the minimal make-up and jewelry, it allows the dress do ALL the talking. My only pickle is the cheap looking red shoes. I would have opted for killer platforms or strappy sandals maybe? She gets a 7.5/10

I love the Nigerian Beyonce Tiwa Savage and after watching the 'Love me, Love me' video I know she has amazing legs, I would have loved for her to show them off. This dress is a little ill fitting and does not compliment her figure at all. From me she gets a 3/10.

I'm not sure how I feel about this dress. I'm not sure why it's folding in the middle either lol.  I've seen you in much better Miss Dominic. Still got mad love for you though! Try again. 5/10.

Welcome

Hello everyone, welcome to our very first post here on the NFP blog. as you are all aware, the Nigerian fashion and entertainment industry has experienced significant proliferation in recent years. Therefore, we have taken the responsibility to call out celebrities who give us eyesores on the red carpet (we know you're thinking it) We will however, give credit, where credit is due.
We won't be allowing comments because we know how 'wonderful' you guys can be...let the professionals do the work. So sit back and enjoy!

Fashionably yours,

Nikki and Temi
